Statutory inspection requirements for common Chinese imported children’s products
The statutory inspection of imported children’s products in China mainly focuses on safety, hygiene, health and other items, aiming to protect the physical and mental health of children. Imported children’s products should comply with the relevant laws and regulations and technical specifications of my country. Here we take four common children’s products as an example:
01 Children’s masks
During the new crown pneumonia epidemic, GB/T 38880-2020 “Children’s Mask Technical Specifications” was released and implemented. This standard is suitable for children aged 6-14 years old and is the first publicly released standard for children’s masks in the world. In addition to the basic requirements, appearance quality requirements and packaging labeling requirements, the standard also provides clear provisions for other technical indicators of children’s masks. Some performance indicators of children’s masks are stricter than that of adult masks.
There is a difference between children’s masks and adult masks. From the appearance point of view, the size of adult masks is relatively large, and the size of children’s masks is relatively small. The design is determined according to the size of the face. If children use adult masks, it may lead to poor fit and no protection; secondly , The ventilation resistance of the mask for adults is ≤ 49 Pa (Pa), considering the physiological condition of children and protecting their respiratory system, the ventilation resistance of the mask for children is ≤ 30 Pa (Pa), because children have poor tolerance to breathing resistance, if Using an adult mask may cause discomfort and even serious consequences such as suffocation.
02 Importing food contact products for children
Imported food contact products are statutory inspection commodities, and laws and regulations such as the Food Safety Law clearly stipulate them. At the same time, imported food contact products should also comply with mandatory national standards. The children’s cutlery and fork in the picture are made of stainless steel, and the children’s dishes are made of plastic, which should comply with GB 4706.1-2016 “National Food Safety Standard for Food Contact Materials and Products General Safety Requirements” and GB 4706.9-2016 “National Food Safety Standard for Food Contact Metal Materials and Products”, GB 4706.7-2016 “National Food Safety Standard for Food Contact Plastic Materials and Products”, the standard has requirements for label identification, migration indicators (arsenic, cadmium, lead, chromium, nickel), total migration, Potassium permanganate consumption, heavy metals, and decolorization tests all have clear requirements.
03 Imported children’s toys
Imported children’s toys are statutory inspection commodities and should meet the requirements of mandatory national standards. The plush toys in the picture should meet the requirements of GB 6675.1-4 “Toy Safety Series Standard Requirements”. The standard has clear requirements for label identification, mechanical and physical properties, flammability properties, and migration of specific elements. Electric toys, plastic toys, metal toys, and ride-on vehicle toys implement “CCC” compulsory product certification. When choosing a toy, pay attention to the content of the product label, focusing on the applicable age of the toy, safety warnings, CCC logo, play methods, etc.
04 Baby clothes
Imported baby clothing is a statutory inspection commodity and should meet the requirements of mandatory national standards. The baby clothes in the picture should meet the standard requirements of GB 18401-2010 “Basic Technical Specifications for Textiles” and GB 22705-2019 “Safety Requirements for Children’s Clothing Ropes and Drawstrings”. Attachment tensile strength, azo dyes, etc. have clear requirements. When purchasing baby clothes, you should check whether the buttons and small decorative objects are firm. It is not recommended to buy clothes with too long ropes or accessories at the ends of the ropes. Try to choose light-colored clothes with relatively few coatings. , after purchase, wash it before wearing it to children.
