Introduction to Kazakhstan regulations

Kazakhstan Government Regulations Document No. 367 dated April 20, 2005 stipulates that Kazakhstan has begun to establish a new standardization and certification system, and has formulated and promulgated the “Law on Technical Regulations”, “Law on Ensuring Consistency of Measurement”, “Kazakhstan Stein Law on Mandatory Product Conformity Confirmation and other relevant supporting regulations. These new laws and regulations aim to separate responsibilities between the state and the private sector, with the government responsible for product safety and the private sector responsible for quality management. Under these new regulations, Kazakhstan implements a compulsory certification system for certain products and services, including machinery, automobiles, agricultural equipment, clothing, toys, food and medicines. However, the inspection and certification of imported products in Kazakhstan is still mainly carried out by the Kazakhstan Standards, Metrology and Certification Committee and its subordinate certification bodies. The inspection and certification standards are not public and the procedures are very complicated. Products imported into Kazakhstan require certification.

Certificate validity period

GOST-K certification, like GOST-R certification, is generally divided into three valid periods: Single batch certification: valid for only one contract, generally does not require Kazakhstan experts to conduct factory audits; one-year validity period: generally requires a Kazakh expert Experts come to audit the factory system; Three-year validity period: Generally, two Kazakhstan experts are required to come to audit the factory’s system and test products. Certification period: 4-6 months, depending on the test progress.
