I. International Quality Standards for Baby Clothes

International quality standards for baby clothes are usually formulated by the International Organization for Standardization or relevant industry associations to ensure the quality, safety and suitability of baby clothes. The following are some of the main international quality standards for baby clothes:

1.EN 14682 standard:

Developed by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), it is specifically for the safety, design and performance requirements of infant clothing.

Including detailed provisions on clothing size, materials, structure, decoration and small parts.

2.ASTM F1816-97 standard:

Developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), it is applicable to the safety performance requirements of infant clothing and apparel.

Emphasis on the requirements of flammability, toxicity, small parts safety of clothing.

3.GB 31701 standard:

Developed by the China National Standardization Administration, it is specifically for the safety technical specifications of infant and children’s clothing.

Including detailed provisions on the ropes, chemicals, combustion performance of clothing.

4.Oeko-Tex Standard 100:

Developed by the International Environmental Textile Association, it is an independent textile eco-label based on the detection of harmful substances in textiles.

Requires that the content of chemical substances in baby clothes must be lower than the prescribed limit value to ensure the safety and environmental protection of the product.

II. Product certification requirements

In order to ensure that the quality and safety performance of baby clothes meet international standards, the following product certifications are usually required:

1.CE certification:

Applicable to baby clothes products in the European market, indicating that the products meet European safety, health, environmental protection and other requirements.

Product testing, factory audits and continuous supervision are required.

2.FCC certification:

Applicable to baby clothes products in the US market, especially those containing electronic components or that can emit radio waves.

Electromagnetic compatibility testing, safety testing and other processes are required.

3.ISO 9001 certification:

It is a quality management system certification that applies to all industries, including the baby clothes production industry.

It shows that the company has a complete quality management system and can continuously provide products and services that meet the standards.

4.Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification:

As mentioned earlier, it is a textile eco-label based on the detection of harmful substances in textiles.

Products that have obtained this certification indicate that their chemical content meets the prescribed limit value and is safe and environmentally friendly.

III. Product quality inspection technology and methods

In order to ensure that the quality of baby clothes meets international standards, a series of product quality inspections are required. The following are some common baby clothes product quality inspection technologies and methods:

1. Appearance quality inspection:

(1) Check whether the appearance of the clothing is neat, without damage, stains or deformation

(2) Check whether the sewing process of the clothing is smooth, without skipped or broken threads

(3) Check whether the decorations and small parts of the clothing are firm, without sharp corners or easy to fall off

2. Size and specification inspection:

(1) Use professional tools to measure the size and specifications of the clothing to ensure that it meets the requirements of the standards or product descriptions

(2) Check whether the size of the clothing is accurate and consistent

3. Physical performance test:

(1) Tensile strength test: Evaluate the tensile strength and elongation of clothing materials

(2) Abrasion resistance test: Evaluate the wear resistance of clothing materials under friction

(3) Color fastness test: Evaluate the color fastness of clothing, including water washing resistance, sweat stain resistance, friction resistance, etc.

4. Chemical performance test:

(1) Harmful substance detection: Use professional instruments to detect the content of harmful substances in clothing, such as formaldehyde, heavy metals, banned dyes, etc.

(2) pH value test: Evaluate whether the pH value of clothing materials is close to the weak acid environment of human skin

(3) Flammability test: Evaluate the combustion performance of clothing to ensure that no toxic smoke or flame spread will be generated during the combustion process

5. Safety test:

(1) Small parts safety test: Evaluate whether small parts on clothing (such as buttons, zippers, decorations, etc.) are firm, easy to fall off, or have sharp corners and other safety hazards

(2) Rope safety test: Evaluate whether the ropes on clothing are too long, easy to entangle, or have safety hazards such as strangulation

6. Comfort and durability test:

(1) Breathability test: Evaluate the breathability of clothing materials to ensure comfortable wearing

(2) Washability test: Evaluate the appearance and performance changes of clothing after multiple washings
