Analysis of Malaysia SIRIM Certification

SIRIM certification is a national quality standard and certification body designated by the Malaysian government, and it is also the only certification management body in Malaysia.

It is committed to ensuring the quality, safety and compliance of products, and providing technical support and certification services to enterprises.

It is a compulsory certification in Malaysia, including electronic appliances, mechanical equipment, steel materials, etc.

With SIRIM certification, products can enter the Malaysian market and meet relevant safety and quality requirements.

I. Scope of certification

Compulsory certification product categories

1.Electronic appliances: plugs, power cords, LED lamps, televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, electric fans, etc.

2.Communication equipment: wireless phones, GSM terminals, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi equipment, optical communication equipment, etc.

3.Others: fire protection equipment, building materials, personal protective equipment, batteries (such as lithium batteries, lead-acid batteries), etc.

4.Key component requirements: key components such as plugs, switches, power adapters, etc. also need to be certified separately

II. SIRIM certification application process

1. Product evaluation: Before applying for SIRIM certification, manufacturers need to confirm whether the product meets the relevant standards of Malaysia. You can choose SIRIM or a third-party testing laboratory to conduct product testing.

2. Application submission: Applicants need to fill in the relevant certification application form, provide product samples and necessary technical documents, and prove that the product meets SIRIM standards.

3. Arrange SIRIM factory inspection: SIRIM will go to the factory to review the records and actual operations of the production line from the purchase of raw materials to the finished product, and require on-site sampling for testing.

4. Laboratory testing: SIRIM will conduct a series of laboratory tests on the submitted products to ensure that they meet the relevant safety, electrical, mechanical or chemical standards. For certain categories of products, on-site inspections may also be required.

5. Review and approval: After testing, SIRIM will review based on the test results and submitted documents. If the product meets the standards, SIRIM will issue a certification certificate.

6. Continuous compliance inspection: During the validity period after certification, SIRIM may conduct regular inspections to ensure that the product continues to meet the standards.
